Burp Suite names four ambassadors

Burp Suite has just added four new official ambassadors to its program.

These are not corporate spokespersons or marketing faces. They are professionals who already create content, give talks, and train others in web security.

PortSwigger launched this program in April to get closer to its real community, and is now expanding it with profiles that already have their own impact in the industry.

Four new names with completely different approaches from one another.

Katie is an educator and researcher specializing in making offensive security accessible to beginners. Malek combines his experience as a pentester with community-oriented educational courses. Yogesh leads pentesters at a global company, is a recognized researcher, and organizes meetups with hands-on training. James is a pentester with a reputation built on sharing knowledge that helps others grow as testers.

All of them were already using Burp before becoming ambassadors.

That is what sets this program apart from a traditional sponsorship. PortSwigger did not bring them on to speak highly of the tool: they brought them in because they were already doing so, with their own credibility and audience. The idea is for them to keep doing what they do, but with the company’s backing and greater visibility to reach more people within the community.

The community always teaches better than any official corporate manual available.

Burp Suite has not released a new feature or updated its interface. What it has done is invest in the people who already use it and teach it. And that, in the long run, changes how the next generation of web security professionals learns.
